Restructuring and changes have always been a part of working life. Today changes are happening faster then ever. Experience indicates that older employees can easily be left standing on the sidelines during such processes. That is why it is especially important to attend to the rights and needs of senior workers, and to ensure that they are involved in the process.

Restructuring and change processes involve both uncertainty and opportunities for growth. Even though, as a union representative, you must conduct yourself based on the management’s initiatives, you do have an important role in terms of working to ensure that the processes are carried out in such a way that it is the opportunities for growth that will dominate, and not the uncertainty.
